Earlier, I shared with you my DIY Nursery Art, and a glimpse at the color scheme I chose for baby boy #2. Today I’m sharing another glimpse into H’s nursery, which I honestly I have to say is my most favorite room of the house. I never did anything this involved for J’s room, but then we were renting and I wasn’t blogging, lol! I also don’t take as many pictures of H as of J, so I’m calling it square.
I had many different nursery ideas when I was designing H’s room in my head, and the whole “orange and blue” just stuck with me. This piece was one of my first projects.
This was my “curbside” find. Technically, I paid $20 for it, but still, I’m sure if I hadn’t snapped it up, it would have ended up curbside. 😉
We were re-using J’s crib and changing table/dresser, but with all the hand me downs, H needed another dresser in his room. I found this gem online in our neighborhood for super cheap!
I used Annie Sloan chalk paint in Paris Grey on the base layer of the dresser. Despite my earlier side table post, this was my other first foray into chalk paint. The nice part about chalk paint is I could do a light coat on the drawers that I intended to paint another color, and it avoided the whole sanding issue!
{Megan doesn’t sand!}
The orange and teal colors were NOT chalk paint, but Sherwin Williams. I decided to get funky and fun in the design, since it was a baby’s room after all. I figured if I hated it, I could just repaint! I painted the drawers orange first, then laid out my tape to go over in the teal.
Hello Frog Tape!! This stuff is magic! I used the Chevron Frog Tape and there was NO BLEEDING. Seriously awesome sh@&.
I used the same teal paint on the dresser as I did on the feature wall of the nursery (soon to be posted.) After a few coats, here’s where we ended up!
He is reusing J’s lamp and we made some new artwork with Daddy, J, and H’s hand. . . and of course we set his Birthday Blocks to the current month. 🙂

Have you ever gone bright and fun with a piece of furniture?
I love linking up at these parties!
