How to Make a Harry Potter Themed Party Sign

October 15, 2018August 17, 2024 Megan 7 comments
As a total Potterhead, I had the most fun ever turning my Halloween porch decor into a Chamber of Secrets and Dementor themed display! #harrypotter #potterhead #hpdecorations #halloween #harrypotterhalloween #diy #cmongetcrafty

If you are going to destash your craft collection and turn it into creativity, this is the way to do it! I turned one party prop into a Halloween prop! #Halloween #harrypotter #monthlycraftdestash #diy

Every month a group of bloggers are challenged by C’mon Get Crafty to create a new craft or project from their own stash of goodies! Everyone is allowed a $10 allowance for necessities to complete their project, but the bulk of it must be created from their own stash of goodies. Check out some awesome creations you might be able to make from your own stash! #CraftRoomDestashChallenge

It has been a busy year, and I have so many great posts in the works to share with you. This project was a perfect destash, since I had purchased this circus sign for my eldest’s The Greatest Showman themed birthday party (post coming soon!) and repurposed it for my Harry Potter Halloween decor!

Technically I should include the cost of this sign for the project, plus the replacement can of chalkboard spray paint, so this might be my first destash challenge to hit the $10 limit, but it is definitely an easy DIY! (I found the sign at Party City and hand lettered the Welcome to the Circus.)

I would make a supplies list, but it would be pretty short! A few coats of chalkboard spray paint recovered my sign and made it ready to write on!

I used a white chalk marker to hand letter the names of a few creepy locations from the Harry Potter universe. My husband and I are both big fans of the book series and film series – we got to go to Harry Potter world at Universal Studios a few years ago!

This year I thought I’d go for a Harry Potter theme for our outside Halloween decor.  I have some very fun and easy ideas to share with you that I’ll be posting later this week, but at least part of it was this sign.

It’s great to get in a little lettering practice on these projects! Sneaky spiders in the background are a little glimpse into the rest of the Harry Potter Halloween decor I used this year! Now, let’s see what everyone else has been up to!

Fun repurposed project, Megan! It’s great to get more use out of the sign through painting it. This is perfect for a Harry Potter Party.

It’s so much fun to see things repurposed over and over especially in crafting – and to talk about it, too! Great sign for a theme party, Megan!

This is a great Destash Project. And it is going to get a lot of use, after all Santa will need directions to the house.

So cute! I love Harry Potter. Did you see the video on Facebook making the rounds of a dance team doing a Harry Potter performance?
