It’s time for another Fab Furniture Flippin’ Contest entry!
This month was sponsored by another amazing brand, Country Chic Paint!
*While this project was sponsored and I did receive free product for it, all opinions remain my own.*
The theme this month was “Bling Bling”, and included a metallic cream option to help “bling” it out.
Once again, I had no furniture of my own to make over – but I have a best friend that never lacks for projects for me. In this case, she had a bed frame for her middle child she needed “beautified”.
If I recall correctly, this was her youngest’s crib, bought second hand for a steal. Once my goddaughter (the youngest) became a monkey and started climbing out of it, they converted it to a full bed for their middle child (who happens to call herself my “best friend”). Alaina is going through a princess phase – you know, only the last two years or so – and the bed was in need of some glamour.
Thanks to Country Chic Paint for some great inspirations – this idea from their website was the golden moment for Alaina’s new bed!
This combination of Vintage Cupcake and Simplicity on the Country Chic Paint website was an instant hit for my BFF, and we both agreed would be a beautiful update to Alaina’s bed.
Time to get to work on my second Fab Furniture Flippin’ Contest entry!
UGH. Spindles. Every time I turn around to work on furniture, it has effing spindles. GRRR.
First, a layer of the Vintage Cupcake paint. . .
Okay, obviously the other frame is in the background with a second layer, and this is the second frame. Lemme just say, I was working on many projects at once and also planning our week in Vegas, so I was a bit flustered in my photos and projects.
Here is the second frame after a coat of Simplicity over the Vintage Cupcake.
My unexpected solution to the annoying spindles? I dipped a rag in the paint and ran it up and down the spindles, covering all sides at once. This only really worked well after an initial brushing, but did cut down on the need for a third coat coverage.
And the final outcome in sweet Alaina’s Frozen inspired bedroom!
Not sure how well these photos show it, but after the coat of Simplicity, I did some simple distressing to unveil the pretty pink Vintage Cupcake layer underneath. This gave the impression of a pretty vintage, distressed bed frame, ideal for growing up in a girl’s bedroom. If Alaina outgrows the look, her younger sister could easily inherit. 😉
I originally chose to use the Silver Bullet Metallic Cream for a slightly “frozen” edging on the bed frame. Alaina is a Frozen junkie, and I figured it would add a little icing to her room. 😉 In the end, several things came up during this project and I wasn’t able to do the “icing” before my friends needed their little girl’s bed back. But I do have another project in mind for that cream, to be shown off later.
If you love my work, you definitely need to check out some of these other Fab Furniture Flips!
