Get Crafty with Cards: Baby Card BBTB2 & TAWS Card Challenges

Get Crafty with Cards
It has been quite some time since I’ve done any card challenges, and I’d forgotten how much fun they are!! In an effort break a crafty dry spell, I checked in with some of my favorite blogs – Bitten By The Bug2 and The Alley Way Stamps – and saw both blogs were running super fun card challenges! The Welcome Baby at BBTB2 was my first to tackle, since it is a Cricut based challenge, and I welcome any opportunity to use my Cricut.

The rules are pretty simple – use a Cricut cut and make a baby card. I opted for the Baby cut from my Word Collage  cartridge. (I love, love, LOVE this cartridge – I use it probably more than any other.) Here’s what I came up with:

card challenges

I cut my collage design on turquoise cardstock at roughly 5 x 5 inches, and cut the border to fit at 5 1/2 x 51/2 in.  I chose a nice pale orange swirled background from my stash and trimmed it to fit under my design. I framed that in orange and finally laid it all onto a 12×12 yellow cartstock folded and trimmed to create a 6x6in card.

Once I had it finished, I realized the color choices were perfect for the TAWS “Be Inspired” Challenge! All I needed was a cute TAWS stamp from my collection, and I could kill two birds with one stone!  The TAWS challenge:

and here’s how I modified my card:

Isn’t he cute!?!?! I printed this pup in wallet-size (2.5 x 3.5in) and colored him with my Copics. I used foam adhesive squares to attach him to the swirly backround for a bit of dimension, cut around him for a silhouette. He’s further outlined by white cardstock before being adhered to the card with Scor tape.

Ok, maybe I was doing a little time-saving, but I still think the final result is pretty adorable. This little guy is one of the TAWS freebies, and I think he’s a good indication of the fun and unique stamps they have in store for you!

Hop on over to both Bitten By the Bug 2 and The Alley Way Stamps to see some of the other amazing creations in these challenges! Don’t forget to share the love and leave a comment with each creator – Crafters LOVE comments! 🙂
