This month’s furniture refresh was a long time in coming. My mom dumped this beaten down coffee table on me months ago, basically saying, “Here, you can do something with this I guess.” She knows me so well.
Well, I haven’t done a coffee table makeover in a while anyway.
The table sat in my front room for months. Per usual. Finally, it was time to get to work.

This month’s challenge required us to use milk paint. I ordered mine online, and used leftover trim paint in charcoal grey for the top of the table. I ordered General Finishes Milk Paint in Snow White. Should have plenty left for futures projects!
I love this trim paint, it goes on so nice and thick you rarely need multiple coats! I had originally intended to stain the top a dark espresso, but unfortunately I ran out of time. Staining takes MANY coats, I switched it up to paint at the last minute.
Once I had my topcoat on, I layered on several coats of the milk paint to the bottom. The contrast goes beautifully in my front room!
I’m VERY happy with it!! I did do some light sanding on the top to reduce the sheen a bit, but I may sand a little more.
My mom handed me this beaten up coffee table so I could give it a makeover! #FurnitureRefreshClick To TweetDon’t forget to check out the rest of the host projects!

This is awesome. What a beautiful transformation. I love the gray and white combo and it looks so nice in your room. Did you like the GF milk paint? I have never tried theirs.
Oh WOW! I love the dark grey paired with the white. It’s so fresh and pretty. Wonderful job on you piece Megan.
Your table turned out so pretty! I love the black and white. General Finishes is my absolute favorite milk paint ever. Nice choice! 😉
Fabulous! You are really creative and talented..
