Do you know a gamer dad that would LOVE to have his own “Daddy’s Game Room”? We geeked out a room for my gamer husband, and he loves it!
On the last (or fourth) Monday of each month, I challenge a group of bloggers to participate in a #MovieMondayChallenge! We decide on a topic, genre, or specific movie to use for inspiration and everyone gets free reign to create something wonderful!
This month’s challenge was. . . . Fathers! Your Dad’s Favorite Film, or just a movie about fatherhood! Everyone was allowed to choose their own favorite film so long as it was inspired by the challenge word.
My spin on this month’s challenge was to pick something that my husband loves, since he’s my favorite father around!! My hubby is a HUGE gamer, and that’s been shown in his previous gifts – like his Father’s Day Mario BBQ platter – so giving him his own game room with a few little personal touches was a perfect spin. I used Ready Player One as my inspiration, since he’s dying to see the new movie and has already read the book!
So, this room USED to be my youngest’s nursery. We decided after he was older to put both boys into one room with bunk beds, so this room as available to re-purpose into a media room/Daddy’s game room.
My brother gave my husband the wall decals for Christmas, and they work perfectly! We set up new shelving with his Harry Potter books, wands, and a few token toys representative of our boys, movies, and games.
On our trip to Harry Potter World in Orlando, we got my husband the Elder Wand to perform “magic”. On another Christmas, I had given my husband a Harry Potter wand remote for the TV, so both had to be set up in Daddy’s game room! My mom got him the Gryffindor wand stand.
My husband obviously doesn’t play Mario anymore, but we often play with our son, and I still love it! These toys were leftover from my son’s Super Mario themed birthday party last year, and made perfect additions to the game room.
Come to think of it, I probably should have printed out my Game of Thrones printable and framed it for one of the walls!
I started getting my hubby all the Harry Potter Funko Pops a while back, a few at a time. Most of them live on his desk at work, but he kept Dumbledore for home. Same for Grumpy. Permanent game room home for both!
The Marauder’s Map was a souvenir from our Harry Potter World Trip, and the wand is the Elder Wand I bought my hubby while we were there, since it was a birthday trip for him. I’m as big a geek as he is when it comes to Harry Potter and old school games like Mario, so I love this room!!
I have to admit, my mom scored a big hit with this Gryffindor wand stand. I had contemplated a DIY wand stand, but this one is just too perfect for Daddy’s game room.
Looks like a fun room for your husband to play games, nice idea and a great father’s day gift.
