DIY Leprechaun Trap

February 17, 2020April 26, 2024 Megan 9 comments

Ok, maybe I’m a bit ahead of myself, but honestly, these guys are tricky! So is it really ever too early to trap a leprechaun??

DIY Leprechaun Trap

Every month a group of bloggers are challenged by C’mon Get Crafty to create a new craft or project from their own stash of goodies! Everyone is allowed a $10 allowance for necessities to complete their project (i.e. paint brushes, glue, etc), but the bulk of it must be created from their own stash of goodies.

Let’s meet this month’s bloggers!!

Every month, a group of bloggers challenge each other to create a new craft or project from their own stash of goodies! Check out some awesome creations you might be able to make from your own stash! #CraftRoomDestashChallenge

Now it is time to make our DIY Leprechaun Trap!

I yanked out all my old St. Patrick’s Day decor, along with a few staples like popsicle sticks and some paint. Those leprechauns are tricky, so you have to be crafty!!

DIY Leprechaun Trap

For this challenge, I spent ZERO dollars. I had all the decor and other accouterments within my stash! I may have borrowed some Skittles from my son’s Valentines gift, but I’ll replace. 🙂

I had the felt hat from the Dollar Store, and simply cut a hole in the top for the “trap”.  The gold coins were…um…repurposed….from my original St. Patrick’s Day Dollar Store Wreath. When one door closes. . .

Using dollar store finds, you can create a unique and festive St. Patrick's Day wreath!

Supplies Needed:

  • Felt Hat
  • Gold Coins
  • Glue
  • Popsicle Sticks
  • Acrylic Paint

I created a ladder with two versions of popsicle sticks, a normal size and a mini size. I painted them with acrylic paint in rainbow colors before gluing them together. The felt hat was leftover from last year, but a litte slice in the top with a box cutter made a nice sized “trap”. A tiny pot planter that I had on hand as well worked for a spilled “pot of gold” with my repurposed coins.

A few extra old Christmas bells in gold added to the experience, as did some leftover felt shamrocks.

I think we are ready to trap our leprechaun!! Now, let’s see what everyone else is creating!
