The smell of autumn is in the air, and I’m surprised to say I am actually ready for it! We had such a bizarre summer that I was afraid I’d hate to bid farewell to it. Cold in the early months, then hot as the blazes until the sudden chill – no, hot – no, chill – no, hot! Dagnamit, it couldn’t make up its mind!!
(Yes, I threw a dagnamit in there. Judge away.)
As the cooler days descend upon Chicagoland, I found I couldn’t wait to pull out my autumn decor. I’ve built up a lovely collection over time, and affordably so, thanks to Wayfair. I fear by next autumn I will be out of room for my growing ceramic pumpkin collection!
This year I decided to skip the traditional autumn dining table display I tend to opt for, I decided to enjoy my newly redecorated living room instead! This table once was part of our entertainment system, but since we mounted the TV and split apart the bookshelves to better fit our new sectional sofa, it makes an excellent accent table and a perfect place to display our autumn decor!
This wreath was a previous year Wayfair purchase. It traditionally adorns my front door, but I’m throwing away traditions this year! Use things in a new way! And so I place this wreath on my side table to add more color contrast to my pretty blue walls.
That ceramic white pumpkin was another previous Wayfair grab. It fits in so beautifully with the rest of my collection, even my pretty wire pumpkin! Of course, though, the star of the show is my NEWEST find – my lighted berry garland!
(I can never brag on this enough, but my cousin is an Emmy award-winning lighting director, and she instilled in me the glory of excellent lighting. This is clearly small scale, but adds so much to the display, especially at night!)
I am LOVING my first touch of autumn decor for this season, especially in my pretty new living room. These lighted berry garlands are the perfect accent!! I got two, as they are 2ft long, and they were the perfect fit!
I won’t pretend I’m not about to buy like four more to put in other rooms, so let’s just square that.
What is YOUR favorite style of autumn decor? What is your favorite room to decorate? And, most of all – are you ready for fall?? Get set up with all the goodies you will find here!
Well, I did get my big foam Jack O Lantern out and put it on the front stairs backwards so passersby only see a pumpkin. Harvest/fall window clings on my glass French front door. Several H decorations starting to clutter up my front hall–where I mainly decorate for H now that kids are grown and gone. Since I’ve started reading blogs, I am more conscious of decorating for seasons but still slow doing it except for Easter and Christmas!
What an awesome Decur! I am normally the control freak when it comes to birthday parties and Halloween. In winter we love to make our home different to summer.
