I am beyond proud to be a part of the fabulous group of DIYers in Furniture Refresh! This month’s theme was “Inspired By” which worked out well for me!
I have never done furniture for hire, until recently. Thanks to my always thoughtful best friend, she sent me a couple in need of help. They wanted a dresser refresh for the new baby they were expecting, and weren’t really sure what to do with it.
In a big blogger no-no, I took the “before” pic with my phone, so please forgive the blur.
This dresser was laminate, with plenty of nasty scratches and ugly marks. But the potential was there!
While originally this was meant for the baby’s room, they actually ended up getting a nightstand for that instead, and tacked that makeover on to this order. So the dresser was now being refreshed for their living room.
My clients (don’t I sound professional??) had an idea in mind of what they wanted. So, for this piece, I was really inspired by them! They provided me with this image of what they liked for this from the very talented blogger at RPK Interiors.
So I got to work! For this project, I used a combination of Deco Art Chalk Paint in Everlasting and Java Gel Stain.
I used the gel stain on the top and also dry brushed some of it over the painted surface for a distressed look.
For the handles, I used the existing hardware, and gave them a fresh update!
A quick trip to the craft store yielded me this fun Metallic paint.
I rubbed this awesome stuff all over the handles and added a metal sealant for durability.
I love the way this turned out, and thankfully, so did the owners!
