I’m sure most of you are like me – Something in the house is bugging you; you want to make a change but you don’t really want to spend much, but you want it to be new, exciting…
FAB-U-LOUS.
This is how I end up rehabbing/spray painting/overhauling things I own – like this clear marker board I want to say we bought this at Target for our first apartment together, about seven years ago. I’ve always liked it, but hadn’t really done much with it since we moved into this house three years ago. When I started playing around with Pinterest-inspired ideas for chalkboards and memo boards in the kitchen, the light bulb blinked on and I went, “Hey! Where’d I put that old marker board?”
Now, it may only be November, but Christmas isn’t THAT far away. Since I’m already chomping at the bit to throw up decorations and play Christmas movies, I conceded to a not-specifically-Christmas-but-still-close-enough-color-scheme for my makeover plans. Pat on the back for my compromise to myself.
Here’s what I pulled together:
One of these days I really must get better and notating whose papers I’m using so I can credit more accurately. Le Sigh.
Anyway, this was such a simple thing to do! More excitedly, I can re-do it anytime I want! I simply trimmed my paper selections to fit my board (my board was longer than 12×12 which is my largest paper size, so I tacked on a nice little section at the bottom, which I think is cute for a separate “section”.) I used the wonderful glue dots to mix it up a bit with some paper punches, and stuck the sheets in the back of the frame. A little Expo-Marker calligraphy (in the loosest sense of the word) and voilà!
Please forgive the awkward view in the final picture – I realized belatedly how difficult it would be to capture the image without reflecting either myself or my messy kitchen!! I likely could have waited until I cleaned to snap the picture, but as usual I was dying to post. Impatience rules again!
I would also like to (pat, pat) brag that this little baby was rehabbed and hung on my lunch hour. Quick and easy!
What are you going to makeover? 🙂
