I had already planned this post for today’s Pretty Printables, so I’m sticking with it, but it is ironic to me now. Last night a tornado blew through my hometown and destroyed a large number of homes and buildings. Thankfully so far it appears to not have harmed anyone physically, but the wake of destruction is large. Many people lost their homes last night, and I had planned a post about organizing ideas for my dream home. :/ Right now, I think a lot of people in my hometown are dreaming about their old home.

Before we bought our house, I was busy stockpiling magazine clippings and Pinterest pins with ideas of things I liked. It actually helped quite a lot in our house hunt, since I was able to get a really good feel for the styles and layouts I liked best. Some people might just go shopping for their dream home, but I actually preferred to find a house with good bones that I could make into my dream home.
I started accumulating a LOT of magazines, print outs, paint samples, etc. With all of us cramped up in my mom’s house during the hunt, organizing my ideas became a necessity. With a simple plastic binder and some paper protectors, I was good to go!
I pulled out EVERYTHING, ripping apart HGTV Magazine, Better Homes and Gardens, you name it. I kept ideas for furniture, paint colors, remodel plans, gardens, ALL OF IT!
Come on, I am planning my DREAM home here!
I stuffed my paint color samples in the pocket at the back of the binder. It got pretty thick.
I couldn’t just have a plain old green binder laying around though. I mean, where is the fun in that? So I popped over to my darling Picmonkey and whipped up a binder cover.
Do you collect ideas for your dream home?
