Refresh Your Walls Fast: My 1-Hour Wall Makeover with Big Wall Decor

All thoughts, opinions, and mild obsessions are entirely my own. I appreciate your support of my blog, and if you have questions, you can see my disclosure policy here.

If your walls could talk… they’d probably ask for a glow-up

Listen, I’m not the type to redecorate on a whim. Life’s busy, art is expensive, and once something’s on the wall, it usually stays there… for a decade. (Not even joking – this gallery wall is still rocking my front room, and the narrow hallway wall I did for my mom’s house is still her pride and joy.)

Of all the rooms in my house, I think my dining room is the one most neglected, at least recently. I haven’t touched it much since I stenciled it, and the non-stenciled wall has boasted the same basic wall art since Day 1.

But recently, I finally upgraded the space in just one hour, thanks to two oversized prints from Big Wall Decor. And… I’m kinda mad I didn’t try this sooner.

Why Traditional Wall Art Drives Me Nuts

I love good design and I hate unnecessary struggle. Traditional framed art has the potential to be a nightmare for people like me who enjoy instant gratification and hate leveling tools. (I am the queen of the eye-ball method.)

Here’s what I used to hate about decorating my walls:

  • Framing is ridiculously expensive
  • Heavy frames make hanging a full-blown workout
  • Once you commit, you’re stuck — unless you want to spackle and repaint
  • Large-scale options are either budget-breaking or bland

So yeah, my walls stayed the same for way too long.

Big Wall Decor to the Rescue

When I got my hands on these swappable prints, I wasn’t sure what to expect, especially with something this size. But then the box arrived… and it was light. That was my first clue that this wasn’t your average wall art.

Here’s what stood out:

  • Lightweight aluminum frame that snaps together in minutes, using just an Allen wrench/hex key
  • Gallery-sized art without the gallery-sized price tag
  • Rolled soft-knit prints that don’t crease or crinkle (and ship without damage!)
  • Snap-in design lets you switch out the art whenever your mood — or season — changes

How Long Did It Take Me? 1 Hour. No Joke.

Okay fine, maybe a little longer, only due to filming the process to share with you. Let’s break it down:

  1. Unboxed the rolled art and frame pieces
  2. Assembled the frame in under 10 minutes
  3. Smoothed the art over the frame and snapped it into place
  4. Popped it on the wall using the included picture hook (because it’s that light)

Honestly, the biggest challenge was choosing which print to start with, since I had TWO options!

Why the Swappable Feature Is a Game Changer

Here’s the part that really sold me: I can keep the frame on the wall and just change the art whenever I want.

That means:

  • I can go full fall vibes in September without digging through storage bins
  • If I get bored of the print? No problem. Swap it out.
  • I can test new color palettes and trends without commitment
  • No more wall damage every time I want something new

Big Wall Decor makes seasonal styling ridiculously easy, even for people with commitment issues. (Hi, it’s me.)

Before and After: Instant Mood Shift

I was SO HAPPY to get rid of the very basic wall art I had hanging up there for so long. The wall went from “meh” to “ME” with just one print. That’s the power of oversized art! It doesn’t just fill space, it defines it.

Now the room looks way more luxe, and also follows the pattern of my first floor home decor – that is, travel and personal memories! The two prints I got reflect Paris and an abstract ocean sunset. I was eyed a different abstract cityscape, but it was for New York. This Chicago girlie had to pass, LOL.

And, the other print – cuz I had to swap them to see which one sticks for now!

A Few of My Faves (That I Now Want for Other Rooms)

Big Wall Decor has a ton of styles, but here are a few standouts that caught my eye:

  • Bold abstracts for modern living rooms – like the one I got!
  • Urban landscapes for dens and home offices – this one specifically I am drooling over as an Anglophile
  • Kid-friendly prints with color and personality for playrooms or bedrooms

It’s like a capsule wardrobe, but for your walls.

Final Take: If You’re Craving a Room Refresh… Start Here

This isn’t just art. It’s flexibility. It’s personality. It’s a really easy way to feel like you did something HGTV-worthy without needing a DIY degree or a weekend-long project. I already have plenty of those.

So if your walls have been staring back at you with the same tired art for the last decade, maybe it’s time. Treat your space to something bold, beautiful, and ridiculously easy to install.

You’ll be amazed what a one-hour change can do.
