June is always a pricey month for us. My husband’s birthday is the week before Father’s Day, so I frequently struggle to come up with good gift ideas for him for both occasions. I pride myself on my gift ideas in most cases, but back to back can be harder to wow.  Mr. Crafty is one of those guys who always desires the latest and greatest in electronics and tech, so he can be expensive to shop for as well.

We already own several gaming systems, speakers, sound systems, universal remotes, etc. Now that we have kids, our tech tends to revolve around things to make our daily lives easier. I mean, all parents want things to be easier, right? Kids are hard work as it is! Trust me, any new dad – actually, ANY dad will be happy with these gift ideas!

An absolute MUST HAVE for any dad is the VTech VM981 Expandable HD Video Baby Monitor with 1 Wi-Fi Camera, 5” Touch Screen.  I’m not super picky about tech products, but this monitor is pretty nifty. Anyone with a new baby or toddlers will understand the importance of having an eye on them at all times.

See this adorable, angelic looking little tot? This is our youngest, and the main reason Mr. Crafty was THRILLED to have the VM981 monitor. Don’t let that grin fool you; this is the kid that is keeps us on our toes. So far he has managed to climb on our counters to access candy hidden in cupboards; climb onto my desk in my craft room to access scissors that he then used to cut his own hair; somehow got a hold of markers and proceeded to color our carpet; basically just will always find a way to do what he shouldn’t be or access things he shouldn’t. It is imperative to have an eye on this cherub at all times!!

I love the large touch screen on this monitor, which lets me see with clarity what my boys are up to. Mr. Crafty is all about the HD, and the high definition on this unit meets his lofty standards perfectly, lol.  The motion sensor activation alerts us when little H is on the move so we can keep tabs, and the remote access on our iPhones lets us stay alerted to his activities when he’s home with Nana or a sitter!

I told you, eyes on him all the time, ha ha!
