June is always a pricey month for us. My husband’s birthday lands the week before Father’s Day, so I frequently struggle to come up with two great gifts in a row. (I pride myself on my gift ideas in most cases, but back to back can be harder to wow. )
And since Mr. Crafty is that guy who loves the latest and greatest gadgets, it’s not exactly a bargain-hunter’s dream.
Over the years, our tech collection has grown to include gaming systems, wireless speakers, sound systems, and smart home gadgets. But once we became parents, our “must-have tech” list shifted toward things that make daily life easier.
Kids are already enough of a full-time job.
Here’s our updated gift list based on the tech my husband owns (or is shamelessly hinting at).
A Baby Monitor That Does More Than Just “Monitor”
If you’ve got a new baby, curious toddler, or adventurous preschooler, a high-quality baby monitor is worth its weight in gold.
Back in the day, we used (and loved) a large-screen HD model that let us see exactly what our youngest was up to — which was usually some new, questionable mission like scaling the counters for candy or giving himself a haircut.
Today’s upgraded models (like the VTech RM7764HD or Nanit Pro) come with features like:
- Crisp HD video (day and night)
- Motion and sound alerts
- App access so you can peek in from your phone, even if you’re away
- Expandable camera options for multiple rooms
Trust me, any dad who values peace of mind — and tech toys — will geek out over this.

See this adorable, angelic looking little tot? This is our youngest from a bit ago, and the main reason Mr. Crafty was THRILLED to have the monitor at the time. Don’t let that grin fool you; it was imperative to have an eye on this little monkey at all times!! 💕
Now that he’s 11, it’s slightly different – more trust, less monitors.

Never Lose Your Keys Again
If he’s constantly asking, “Have you seen my keys/wallet/backpack?” this is the fix. Apple AirTags pair instantly with an iPhone and track just about anything — keys, bags, luggage, even the remote (with the right holder). My husband keeps one in his work bag and one on his keyring, and it’s saved us from frantic morning searches more than once. We also put one on the backpack of our youngest before he was allowed to get his own phone.
Upgrade the Front Door
eufy Security Smart Lock C210 »
Hands full? Kids dawdling? Rain pouring down? No more juggling groceries while trying to unlock the door. (Especially if you’re like me and your mission in life is the least trips from the car to the counter as possible!) The eufy Security Smart Lock C210 opens with a code, fingerprint, or phone and works with Alexa and Google Home.
Clean Floors, No Effort Required
Narwal Freo X Ultra Robot Vacuum & Mop »
Once upon a time, we had the original Roomba, affectionately named “Rosie” in an homage to the Jetsons. After it died, we never replaced it, but based on my husband’s wish list, he’s clearly ready to do just that! This vacuum and mop combo maps the house, runs on schedule, and even cleans itself. Perfect for keeping floors clean between kid snack explosions and dog hair tumbleweeds.
Never Scoop the Litter Box Again
Litter-Robot 4 »
This one would be a gift to the whole house, and in mine specifically, a great gift to my son! (It’s his job to clean the litter box!) If you have cats, this is the holy grail. It self-cleans after every use, controls odor, and means you’ll never have to scoop again.
Know If You Left the Garage Open
Chamberlain MyQ Smart Garage Hub »
I’m the problem, it’s me! This has been on the list for a while and I haven’t thought to get it for him! Open or close your garage from anywhere with your phone and get alerts if it’s left open. No more turning around halfway to work to double-check. Especially crucial if you’ve got kiddos coming and going with bikes or skateboards (or whatever)!

Turn Brushing into a Tech Upgrade
Oral-B iO Series 10 »
Yes, an electric toothbrush can be a gift – when it’s this high-tech. It gives real-time feedback, tracks your brushing in an app, and leaves your teeth feeling like you just left the dentist. My husband loves it almost as much as his gaming chair (we’ll get there).Definitely not your average toothbrush.
Make His Desk or Game Setup Comfy
Secretlab Titan Evo 2022 Series »
I ended up with this chair before he did!! When I was desperately in need of a new office chair, my husband gifted me with one of these. To be honest, I’d have settled for something basic if left to my own devices, BUT I am sooooo grateful he did the shopping instead!

This chair adjusts to fit perfectly, offers all-day support, and is built to last. I’m in love with mine, and don’t worry – I immediately got him one the next Christmas! Doesn’t matter if he’s gaming or working it’s the upgrade he’ll feel every day.
Bottom Line – Choose Tech that Earns Its Keep
You don’t need to buy the biggest, flashiest tech on the market. Pick gadgets that fit his lifestyle and make everyday life easier — those are the gifts that will actually get used (and appreciated) year-round.
