Okay, this one is kind of stupid simple, but I thought I’d share with you anyway. 🙂 When I did my son’s whole Cars theme bedroom makeover, I wanted to come up with a way to store his numerous die cast toy cars. He’s really good about playing with all of them, and they are pretty cute, so I didn’t want to just stuff them in a box.

While in Ikea shopping for some racks to make him a little book, I found these picture ledges:
Why wouldn’t they be perfect for toy car storage!? I figured they were a good fit to showcase his collection. They’re wide enough to fit the majority of them and only a few hang off a bit.
I spray painted them with Rustoleum’s Gloss Apple Red to match the rest of the bedroom decor, and up they went!
The wall was still a little naked between the window sill and the railing however, so I cut out some vinyl lettering on my Cricut and “christened” the garage. 🙂 I love how this turned out!!
UPDATE!
This Ikea hack worked so well that when we bought our first home, we re-used the concept on a bigger scale! Check out the post on my DIY Picture Ledges for more details!
