My son absolutely loves having his cousins over for a sleepover. He wishes he could do it every weekend, which of course we can’t do, but I love to set them up whenever possible. He does get a little concerned however, since we are still struggling with nighttime wetting on occasion. No kid wants to have an accident in front of their friends, so we started using GoodNites Bedtime Pants to keep him from being embarrassed. He just sleeps so hard that he doesn’t wake up to use the bathroom, something he can’t possibly control. And since GoodNites come in fun superhero designs, he doesn’t mind wearing them for bed.

Now, boys sleepover ideas can be a little hard to come by at times, trying to think of new ways to keep active little guys occupied and prevent the inevitable “I’m bored!” announcement. When we decided to have a sleepover after my youngest’s birthday party last weekend, we got a little inventive – and on the cheap!! Check out my 5 boys sleepover ideas below!

Normally when we have a boys sleepover at our house, we just rely on the basement playroom and various toys to keep the kids occupied until closer to bedtime when we usually go the movie-and-popcorn route. Since it was a sleepover/birthday party, I decided to make things a little more festive. A quick trip to Walmart and less than $20 worth of supplies and my imagination got to work.

What you Need

Two packages of balloons, any colors

Ribbon

One container of water balloons

One roll of blue painter’s tape

One package of toy medals (or other trophy idea)

Create a Balloon Obstacle Course

This was such fun to put together! Use the painter’s tape to outline a “track” for the boys to follow, and hang balloons from the ceiling at various points with the ribbon. Throw a few balloons around the floor as well for extra obstacles. You can play this where they need to avoid the balloons, and then again where they try to hit as many as they can!

Medals for successfully completing the course!!

Play Balloon Volleyball

Super easy to set this one up, and boys love to hit balloons around! Take two chairs and string a line of the painter’s tape between them for the “net”. Easy peasy!

Create an Indoor Hopscotch Court

Getting to toss pebbles (or toy cars, in our case) and hop around on one foot? Makes for fun times and lots of giggles! Use the painter’s tape to create any style court you like!

Have a Water Balloon Fight

Kick ’em outside with an arsenal of water balloons! We set them up with their own sets and let ’em loose on each other. It was a great way to stay cool in the summer heat, and obviously throwing water balloons at your friends is a boy’s dream come true.

Set up a target for water balloon throwing

If they aren’t interested in throwing the balloons at each other, or they get bored with that, set up a target for them to aim for! We already owned this Minions target board, but you could easily make your own out of cardboard.

When all the fun is done, you will have some very tired kiddos! Perfect time to calm down for the night and get ready for the best part of the sleepover – sleeping!!

Ok, maybe that’s just Mommy’s favorite part….

We decided to keep the movie night tradition, especially with the kids exhausted from all the fun games. Time for jammies, GoodNites, popcorn, and a fort!

If your kids have issues with bedwetting, you can grab GoodNites at your local Walmart. They have designs for boys and girls to make them more appealing to your littles. It isn’t their fault if they have accidents, and they should eventually grow out of it. Until then, stock up! You can grab bed mats as well for extra protection.
