The rules of the challenge are simple – you are challenged to create something using primarily materials and tools you already have on hand, with a spending allowance of up to $10 for any necessities (paint brushes, etc.). For this month, I didn’t spend a dime!

Excuse my mess. 🙂 *Mental note – tidy up stamp drawers! So when C’mon Get Crafty was first created, I was primarily into paper crafting and card making. Two kids and a few years later, I have sort of gotten away from that and focused more on home DIY projects or kids crafts and party decor.
I still have a whole load of card making supplies, from stamps to ink pads to paper punches . . . and don’t get me started on my markers! I’ve also got quite a few embossing powders that are messy but fun to play with. You just stamp your image, cover the wet ink with the embossing color of your choice, and tap off the excess. Then use your heat gun to solidify!
That Versafine black ink pad is a MUST BUY for crisp, clean letter stamping, IMO.

- Versafine Black Ink Pad (great for word stamps and other intricate stamps)
Speaking of cleaning out the stash, these were all actually cards I’d made way back when! I thought they would be great examples of how easy it is to create your own DIY cards and keep them on hand for any occasion, rather than having to run out for a pricey store version!
This was a baby shower invite I created a few years ago for my friend’s “Martha Stewart-esque” baby shower. I used several cuts from an older Cricut cartridge on my old Cricut Expression. I love using sponges with ink pads to color my cutouts. The bottom layer of the card was stamped with clear embossing powder, and then I used the heat gun to cure it. Finally I sponged grey ink over it to leave the embossed lines clear.
All the elements of this card were sponge inked, with the exception of the swirly stamps and the pink ribbon. Still one of my favorite cards!
This was a baby shower card I created using the fabulous Cricut write feature and a clip from another older Cricut cartridge, Word Collage. I was using my Sharpie markers to color it, but I went outside the lines and couldn’t live with myself anymore.
The other cards pictured are just simple fold cards with basic sentiments on them, such as “Cheers!” Or “Thank You!” I love getting cheap rubber sentiment stamps for easy card-making!
Now that you’ve seen a few examples of DIY cards for any occasion, let’s see what everyone else was inspired to create!

I loved the card with the BIG BOLD letters, best. And I think the little colour outside the lines isn’t too bad. But I know exactly how frustrating a little mess-up can be while crafting for ours and pouring in all you’ve got. I’ve never done this embossing thing with glitter you’ve explained and I probably shouldn’t even dig in deeper, as I am already having too many supplies in my crative stash, lol.
I love that adorable baby shower card! I have so many stamps and stickers and scrapbook paper that I could use to make cards, too! I’m gonna start doing that! Such a great idea!
My SO has 5 grands, I have one and 2 almost-steps; that’s a lot of holiday cards to buy for; I make slightly different multiiples, sometimes adding something of play value–a page of stickers, a magnet back on a wooden figure, etc. Then there’s “the old people”; oh wait, I’m 66. You know, the sick ones at church, an old boyfriends’ parents…I need lotsa cards! I like the mixed media aspect–adding embellishments, ribbon, lace, brads, etc. Lotta love goes in, too!
