DIY Fall Bathroom Decor: Guest Post from Amber at The Vanity Room

November 1, 2013March 5, 2014 Megan Post a comment

Today we have Amber from over at The Vanity Room giving us a little peek into her home, and how she decorates a rarely considered room for the season! Please welcome her to C’mon Get Crafty!

I am Amber Hash and I blog over THE VANITY ROOM.

I have a passion for interior designing and blogging is the perfect platform to quench my creative thirst.  I love to indulge in the internet and dig for ideas as I feed off the inspiration. The Vanity Room is all about my passion for home decor. I have been designing my own house as well as helped many friends of mine to update or redo their homes. I love to play with old things and create something new from them. I believe creativity is a gift of God which I am blessed with. I wanted a platform where I could express my ideas.

Blogging is the perfect platform to quench my creative thirst.  I love to indulge in the internet and dig for ideas as I feed off the inspiration. I believe in creativity and thinking out of the box to generate ideas that are not only unique but also cost-effective.

It is difficult to get out of bed every morning for work especially in winters it
is even more difficult because it’s really cold outside!  Just imagine how wonderful your cold mornings
can be when you wake up and walk into a warm cozy beautifully decorated
bathroom according to the lovely Fall season.

Mostly when it comes to decorating our bathroom for fall ideas don’t
come to our mind easily as they do for the rest of the house and to be honest
most of us does not even bother to pay attention to this room. But trust me
there are countless ways to bring Fall into your bathroom and you will be
surprised to know how simple they are to implement. So today I decided to share with you my very easy
“DIY FALL BATHROOM DECOR”.

Here is a picture of my
bathroom before the decor. I really loved the gold and black flower motif
impression on my wall tiles which inspired me to go for the whole Fall
look.

I had this fabulous jute sack which I decided to use as a base for my dry flower arrangement.
I love its texture and the loop details on it. Plus it gives a very Fall feel
but it was plain and needed some more Fall punch. I added the Fall element by
writing “Fall” on it with a marker and then filled it with black
fabric paint. After that I pasted a fabric flower on it to complete the look.

I used some handmade paper flowers and dried leaves dry to fill the jute sack. I
made these paper flowers last Fall. All you need is some fish wire and colored
paper. Just twist and turn the paper around the wire. Once the paper is all wrapped
around the wire just simply swirl it in shape of a flower. You can make as many
flowers as you want. The reason I used paper flowers is because we get a very
dry look from the paper’s texture. They are easy to make and can be maintained
for a long period of time unlike real dried flowers.

Other decorative items that I used included a candle, some potpourri, a couple of
pine cones, a wooden basket, and a wooden clock.  I loved the detail work on the wood clock and
basket. The clock had a beautiful quote written on it; “you don’t love a woman
because she’s beautiful, she is beautiful because you love her “.

It is a really nice idea to keep potpourri in
your bathroom as potpourri is a mixture of dried petals of roses and other
flowers with spices, which are kept in a jar or a basket for their fragrance. They
create a unique and pleasant aroma in a room. Especially in a place like a
bathroom it is very effective to keep them. Now coming to the bathroom
curtains, I had very old fashioned and out dated curtains with big flower
prints, which I decided to replace with new vintage style cream net curtains.

Here is a before and after look of my very easy “FALL BATHROOM DÉCOR”.

To combat the weather the only thing missing is a heated towel rail in my
bathroom. It is a very good option to keep your bathroom warm and cozy,
especially in smaller bathrooms which don’t have any other type of heating plus
it offers you a towel at the perfect temperature. I hope you got some
inspiration from this post. Just remember you don’t need to neglect your
bathroom when it comes to accessorizing it for the season as you don’t have to
spend much to enhance it. Use your imagination, creativity and keep your
counter clutter to a minimum. Tuck away your toothbrushes and extra stuff.
Whether you like to indulge and spend as much time as possible relaxing in your
bathroom or you dash in and out be sure to update the look and feel of it for
Fall.

xoxo
