Do you have a space in your home that you just love, but perhaps it doesn’t translate terribly well to the different seasons? For me, that space is my front entryway.
I absolutely adore this photo, which we snapped during a Mexican getaway, but now that it is Christmas time, it doesn’t really lend a very winter-y vibe, now does it?
As part of the amazing group of bloggers involved in the #HomeForChristmas blog hop hosted by Hometalk and Country Living, I was determine to find a way to make this space festive for the holidays.
As I started to set out my Christmas decor, I got an idea. I didn’t have anything else to fill the space where the canvas was, but couldn’t I somehow camouflage it?
I was pretty sure I could! After a quick stop at the store for some pretty wrapping paper, I got to work.
This is the easiest update I’ve ever done! A roll of pretty paper, scissors, tape, and ribbon are all you need!
I took the canvas print off the wall, and laid it out over the wrapping paper on my kitchen island.
Then you just wrap the canvas like a present, though not fully across the back. Secure your edges with tape.
I snipped away at the paper where the hanging hooks were so there wouldn’t be an issue getting it back on the wall.
Next, I trimmed the ribbon into two strips, and secured it across the length and width of the canvas, taping to the back edges as I did the paper.
I cut two more strips of ribbon and thread them under the center cross to establish my “bow”.
More tape toe secure the ribbon, then I slipped them around so the tape was on the bottom. I flattened the loops by pressing gently on them.
Back on the wall! Now I have no issues at all finishing the festive decor of this space!
I love this time of year, all the warmth you can feel simply from the beautiful colors of the season.
I’m fairly traditional in my decor, but I do love to add a touches of sparkle where I can.
It’s a great DIY idea! The house is looking pretty! Hope I got it and will decorate my house perfectly like yours for the next Christmas! Thanks, Megan for sharing such a wonderful idea with us! 🙂
