ON THE LAST MONDAY OF EACH MONTH, I HOST A GROUP OF BLOGGERS WHO PARTICIPATE IN A #MOVIEMONDAYCHALLENGE! WE DECIDE ON A TOPIC, GENRE, OR SPECIFIC MOVIE TO USE FOR INSPIRATION AND EVERYONE GETS FREE REIGN TO CREATE SOMETHING WONDERFUL! THIS MONTH’S THEME WAS DISNEY!

My favorite Disney movie (nostalgically) is Sleeping Beauty. There are honestly not many Disney movies I don’t love, but this one harkens back to my childhood. It holds many personal memories for me, and will always have a place in my heart. Not only that, the running family joke is that a few of my family members are visually depicted in the movie! (Find out more on that HERE.)
I really wanted to do a Sleeping Beauty craft for this challenge, but I was having such a hard time coming up with something since I have two boys. They have seen the movie, but it seemed unlikely they’d want any crafty items inspired by it. It only belatedly occurred to me that I could make something for myself. (Wait, what!?)
I’ve been dying to make DIY glitter wine glasses for the longest time and I finally had a great inspiration for some. I was going to use the #MovieMondayChallenge to make DISNEY glitter wine glasses!
I had so much fun making these beautiful DIY glitter wine glasses inspired by my favorite Disney Movie , Sleeping Beauty! Click To Tweet
I won’t go into a big long spiel about how to make them because – cough – I HAD NO IDEA HOW TO MAKE THEM. But Olivia at Joyfully Prudent has an amazing tutorial you should follow here!!
My mother had gotten me these large stemless wine glasses on the cheap a while back. I always appreciate freebies, but since we basically use stemless wine glasses for ALL drinks, from OJ to wine, they were a bit big. The nice thing was they allowed plenty of room to decorate.
The tip Olivia used for creating a straight line was genius, and it definitely helped in my taping. I wish I’d had electrical tape on hand though – I think it would have been much better than the painter’s tape over all.
I also hadn’t realized I didn’t have all the glitter colors I needed. I’ve had a package of assorted glitter for YEARS in my Crafty Stash, and never realized I didn’t have blue glitter! THE HORROR.
Once I had my glasses taped, I got to work with the Modge Podge and glitter. The Three Good Fairies are Flora, Fauna, and Merriweather, each with their own distinctive color gown or sparkle when flying. So naturally I needed the three colors for my glitter wine glasses!
I cut my three good fairies from the Happily Ever After collection on Cricut Design Space. I originally intended to include a quote from each over the silhouette, but my fonts were not great at this small size and the vinyl got all messed up. It can still be added later once with a better font, I suppose! The glasses would have read:
For Flora (red) – “Make it WINE!” (Flora and Merriweather fight over the magical color of Princess Aurora’s dress for the better half of the film, with Flora casting “Make it pink!” and Merriweather casting “Make it blue!”)
For Fauna (green) – “I just <3 happy endings!” (Fauna sighs this dreamily at the finale of the film.)
For Merriweather (blue) – “Enough of this Nonsense” (Merriweather exclaims “I’ve had enough of this nonsense!” during the dressmaking/cake-baking disaster for Aurora’s birthday. And let’s face it, there’s likely a lot of times you reach for a wine glass ENTIRELY due to have had enough nonsense!
Ok, ok, I clearly should have flipped my Fauna cut in Cricut Design Space so all three fairies were facing the same direction. I get annoyed when I realize these things after the fact.
So tell me – what Disney movie would inspire you to whip up your own Disney glitter wine glasses??
