Mummy Needs to Regenerate Wine Glass {Movie Monday Challenge}

 

Whether or not you like Monster Movies, almost any tired “Mummy” can appreciate this wine glass DIY tutorial! Sometimes the Mummy just needs to regenerate! #MovieMondayChallenge #TheMummy

 

 

On the last (or fourth) Monday of each month, a group of bloggers participate in a #MovieMondayChallenge, hosted by C’mon Get Crafty! We decide on a topic, genre, or specific movie to use for inspiration and everyone gets free reign to create something wonderful!

This month’s challenge was. . . . MONSTER MOVIES! Everyone was allowed to choose their own favorite film so long as it was inspired by the challenge word.

My first choice for Monster Movies was The Mummy, specifically the Brendan Fraser version. I don’t really do monster movies or horror movies (hence my Halloween Movies for ‘Fraidy Cats post) but this movie and its sequel I did enjoy.

 

 

I admit I was struggling on this challenge. I didn’t want to do any of the millions of kiddie mummy treats or crafts flooding Pinterest, I wanted it to be specific to the movie. I liked the idea of creating an Evie (played by Rachel Weisz) costume, but not talented at all with sewing.

 

I liked also the idea of gold makeup, but seriously not talented at that either. So I went with what I’ve done before – wine glass decor.  Since the main concept around this film is how Imhotep regenerates over time, it made a perfect play on words for my wine glass craft. All mommies need to regenerate, right?? Sometimes it just takes a little vino

 

 

Hours Type font was used to create this cut out in Cricut Design Space for this project.  It looked Egyptian-ish to me, so it worked! I wanted to do a gold leaf project originally, but I couldn’t get it done in time, so I settled for gold vinyl. I’m seriously going to need to try a wine glass diy with etching at some point. I’m sort of exhausting my vinyl . . .

 

 

Once the vinyl is cut, you have to weed out the excess. Then you use the handy dandy transfer tape to secure the design to the mummy wine glass. I though briefly about adding some extra gold flair to the glass but the simplicity of the design was enough for me. (Also, super tired AF. Let’s be real.)
