Been dying to post this, as I am in love with my own creation! 🙂 I’ve been waiting for it to arrive at its recipient so I could post – here is my new favorite, a pop-up card wishing Congrats from Winnie the Pooh!
My cousin back home in Chicago is expecting her second little boy in May, and the theme for his side of the boys’ room is Winnie the Pooh! K has also been a longtime devotee of that lovable pessimist, Eeyore, so naturally he was chosen to grace the front of the card.
Pop up cards are surprisingly simple – assuming of course, you aren’t going bananas like I did, creating an entire nursery. Even so, I was able to construct this card with a minimal of cuts for the pop ups. I was largely inspired by wonderful tutorials like this one over at Oh Happy Day. I originally intended to have elements of this card “pop” at various lengths along the nursery floor…but as usual, my over exuberance conflicted with my creative ideas, and I ended up with everyone along the crib. The other elements ended up working just as nicely lying on the floor, as toys tend to do. 🙂
Here’s another image, from slightly above.
Now, if the crib and mattress look a little wonky to everyone, that’s my fault. I didn’t have any crib cuts for my Cricut, so I made one digitally from a few basic cuts I DID have – namely, a fence from Mickey and Friends Cartridge and a round square from the Craft Room Basics.
I cut the curtains from some pretty vellum I had on hand, and the window and skyline were both made using Craft Room Basics on my Cricut. The characters came from my Pooh Font Cartridge, the ball and train from Toy Story and Mickey and Friends, respectively. Tigger’s basketball, the fuzzy elephant, foam alphabet stickers, and footprint/It’s a Boy charms were all in my stash. I cut the rug from some fun paper I had hoarded that had the great thread running through it – perfect for the cause! 🙂
