Here’s a dumb question: anyone NOT like Dr. Suess?? Yeah, didn’t think so. EVERYONE loves Dr. Suess, and why wouldn’t you? Theodore Suess Geisel is probably one of the greatest writers, thinkers, and men who ever lived – I adore him.
So it’s not really any surprise that a haphazard painting experiment would turn into a Suess-a-bration.
I painted a few times in high school, when I seriously considered myself “an artist.” I haven’t picked up a paintbrush to do anything fancier than paint an apartment wall until recently. You may or may not have seen an earlier post, Playing with Paint , which was technically my first venture back into the painting realm. This marks my second, and as mentioned in that post, I’m a whole lot happier with this one.
To be fair, I owe a lot of credit to my friend Alli for this one. We were having a wine-drinking crafting party at my place, canvases laid out, paints scattered everywhere. Now Alli will likely be featured here someday, assuming I can talk her into it, since she’s incredibly talented with a paintbrush. And she gets a lot of credit for my final product since I was annoyed as hell with it just after a base coat, and she urged me to keep going.
I’d love to pretend some genius inside me wielded the brush just so, so that a pretty picture emerged, but in reality…..me wine paint Alli’s encouragement = THIS:
That’s some free-hand Suess lettering (not sure that that’s a boast, actually), and I take credit for all the painting and the idea…but I’d be lying if I didn’t say that Alli convinced me to go forward with it, and even critiqued my Suess hat!
I love it. I hope my kid loves it, because I really want to hang it in his room (where it currently is) for a long time. =)
