Hi guys!! Thank you so much for stopping by, I’m super excited about this great series of posts!
Being surrounded by pregnant friends while working on my second pregnancy myself, it seemed silly NOT to devote a series of posts to all the fun crafty ideas available for moms and moms-to-be! Topics are varied, and include:
Gender Reveal Idea (yoo hoo, that’s here!)
How to Make a Diaper Wreath (and a bonus Diaper Bouquet)
Make Your Own Baby Book (with free printables!)
Unique and Fun Baby Shower Gifts
So let’s get started! Now, on to the first post in the Baby Series: My Gender Reveal Idea!
This was a cute gender reveal idea I came up with to announce the gender of #2! We didn’t host a party or anything like that, but it was still a fun little way to let my hubby and son know what was coming! 🙂 When I was pregnant with my son, we received a set of girl footie jammies and boy footie jammies from my friend, so we took a picture of my husband holding each one, then posted the boy set on Facebook when knew we were having a son.
This time my husband couldn’t go with me to the ultrasound, so I worked on a fun way to let the secret out. Since I run Birthday Blocks on the side of C’mon Get Crafty (and my 9 to 5), blocks and boxes seem to just come naturally to mind for me. So I came up with my Gender Reveal Surprise Box idea!
Supplies
- Box
- (I paid $4 for one with a nice flip lid at Hallmark. It was a blue box, so I spray painted it white.)
- Stickers/Stamps/Embellishments
- Confetti or filler
- Reveal of choice (Could use anything! I went with a basic paper scrap, though I considered colored candies and toys as well)
The best part, is there are no rules! Go nuts with your imagination! Just grab some markers/stickers/pictures/whatever floats your fancy, and decorate that box to the nines!
For the lid, I used my faithful Cricut to cut out my titles of Princess or Prince, then added fuzzy cute stickers to match. (Martha Stewart) (Life’s a Party Cricut Cartridge)
These two sides I used cuts from Life’s a Party and Word Collage. All my homemade “stickers” were made with vinyl picked up at Joann.
The baby feet and basketball stickers came from my stash, and I cut the rest from Word Collage and Life’s a Party.
For the inside of the box, I filled it with paper confetti and a scrap of paper announcing that we are having. . .
a BOY!!!
Another fun idea could be to have older siblings decorate the box, and then secretly fill it for them to open. There’s a ton of possibilities!
Would you do a gender reveal? What ideas do you like best?
